Mindboggling shopping expedition

I've never dreaded shopping as much as I did on Monday. Took a day's leave and dragged the girls, Joyce and Cindy and their wee ones to Robinsons to start buying some stuff for Little Stein. Both were 'expert' moms by now and could give me advice on the different items and brands I was looking at.

Never knew shopping could be so hard. Even armed with a list of things to buy... I was still confused and confounded with the array of things a little one needs. I mean.. hello... whoever thought there could be so many different kind of bottles, teats, sterilisers, breast pumps, breast pads.... You know, maybe I should just invest in Avent and Pigeon stocks, since they seem to profit from all the kiasu-sim of parents today, willing to splurge on their little prince and princesses.

The first item I was examining took me an hour - baby pram. I had to decide between a mileage pram or a lightweight stroller... full canopy or half canopy... big wheels or small wheels..... number of seats inclinations... how it folds... whether it can stand or lie on its side after folding... sigh... in the end, I decided on a Capella pram which looked like Joyce's Lucky Baby pram. Moreover it is cheap.... so in the event I decided to upgrade, it will not make such a big dent on my pocket.

Another big ticket item would be the baby's cot. I wanted a white cot but somehow, the white cot that Robs has is quite flimsy. In the end, I got a dark brown cot that can be converted to a toddler's bed with guard rails after the little one grew out of it. I got cot sheets from Aussino with piglet prints to match... :)

Even after spending one whole day browsing, I only scratched the surface of the list. there's just too many things to consider.. Poor mommy is tired... if I wave a magic wand, will some fairy godmother will do the shopping for me....

Pink pink and more pink!

Man came back from the US this morning, mighty pleased with himself.

Ever since he learnt that he would have a darling princess, he went on a shopping spree during his recent work trip to the US of A, and typical of him... he bought pink, white and more pink bb clothes... which was good and fine if it is indeed a girl...

After going through the cute clothes, bibs, mittens, socks etc... I planted a horrible thought in his head... "What if it turns out to be a boy har?"

He panicked... "Hah? Sure or not... better be girl... I bought all pink leh... Don't care lah... boy also wear pink!"

Hahhaha so Alvin Chew Jr.... the future metrosexual guy... your daddy is giving you a headstart in life!

Of Europe and weight gain

Went to Spain and Italy for 2 weeks in November......

Well this is supposed to be a bb and mommy blog... not a travel blog... so I shan't bore everyone with too much details of my travels, except suffice to say:

1) Gaudi's works aren't that great...
2) Too much of good food is actually baaad...
3) We almost ingested a baby snail found in our salad bowl, coz the salad was "oh so fresh our salad!"
4) The Italians can speak better English than the Spaniards....
5) Zara is much cheaper in Spain
6) Too many basilicas and piazzas can wear you down....
7) Early winter is a good time to visit Europe.. less crowd and nice weather....
8) We didn't visit the leaning tower of Pisa
9) I am sick of pasta and pizza and tuscan cuisine
10) This momma put on 2+ kg after the trip...

Yeah... Its uphill from now....Thr belly is more visible... the face is more moon-shaped.... the boobs exploded exponentially (which is a good thing) From a 70A, I am now a 80B... Man is v pleased.

So far, I have put on about 3+kg. But the net weight gain is only 1+ kg as I lost 2 kg due to morning sickness in the first 3 months....

Hope I don't put on too much for this pregnancy... It wil be tough to work it off later.... :( Need to start looking for some exercise classes for preggy pops!

I have been harangued...

Yes yes.. I know I've been lazy of late.... and a few people have not failed to remind me....

So with a little lazy effort on my part, here's a little entry to update on the progress of my bb...

At the 20-week scan, we were able to tell that....

a) all organs and extremities are normal
b) bb has short legs - femur length less than average length
c) bb is active - kicking and moving non stop
d) bb weighs 333g at 20 weeks 5 days
d) bb is a GIRL!!! Coz got the 'hamburger' between the legs... hahah

Yeah.. Man was in uptight protective daddy mode, after the scan. He began worrying about her as a teenager and having boyfriends and what have you. All the angst and anxiety even when the baby is not out yet. Tsk Tsk...

For me... I am like... I knew it, I knew it! Uncanny me.... The radiographer wanted 4D numbers from me for having such accurate foresight... hahaha

Seriously, people have commented that I looked better when pregnant. I have a 'glow'. Its true my skin has cleared up tremendously... I have put on flesh where it is supposed to be...not sure about the glow bit though.. hmmmm......
