Mindboggling shopping expedition
I've never dreaded shopping as much as I did on Monday. Took a day's leave and dragged the girls, Joyce and Cindy and their wee ones to Robinsons to start buying some stuff for Little Stein. Both were 'expert' moms by now and could give me advice on the different items and brands I was looking at.
Never knew shopping could be so hard. Even armed with a list of things to buy... I was still confused and confounded with the array of things a little one needs. I mean.. hello... whoever thought there could be so many different kind of bottles, teats, sterilisers, breast pumps, breast pads.... You know, maybe I should just invest in Avent and Pigeon stocks, since they seem to profit from all the kiasu-sim of parents today, willing to splurge on their little prince and princesses.
The first item I was examining took me an hour - baby pram. I had to decide between a mileage pram or a lightweight stroller... full canopy or half canopy... big wheels or small wheels..... number of seats inclinations... how it folds... whether it can stand or lie on its side after folding... sigh... in the end, I decided on a Capella pram which looked like Joyce's Lucky Baby pram. Moreover it is cheap.... so in the event I decided to upgrade, it will not make such a big dent on my pocket.
Another big ticket item would be the baby's cot. I wanted a white cot but somehow, the white cot that Robs has is quite flimsy. In the end, I got a dark brown cot that can be converted to a toddler's bed with guard rails after the little one grew out of it. I got cot sheets from Aussino with piglet prints to match... :)
Even after spending one whole day browsing, I only scratched the surface of the list. there's just too many things to consider.. Poor mommy is tired... if I wave a magic wand, will some fairy godmother will do the shopping for me....
