Beware of barracuda baby!
It was a very distressing time for Mommy after we were discharged from hospital. She wanted very badly to breastfeed me, but somehow, I always ended up "biting" her nipples till they were bloody and sore. Mommy had to bite her lips and bear with the pain everytime I latched on for my feeds. It got so bad that Mommy cried and said she could not take it anymore! She said I was a barracuda baby!!!Poor poor Mommy...A week after I was born, we went back to Thomson Medical for my checkup with the pediatrician. Mommy told the PD her nursing problems and the PD ordered her to see a lactation consultant. Fortunately, the LC told Mommy that I was not biting (yeay! i could never bite my Mommy!) but there was a latching on problem. The LC patiently spent 20 mins teaching Mommy how to latch me on properly using the football and cradle position. Mommy was visibly relieved that she could still continue to breastfeed me with little or no pain!! Hooray! Now I can drink all the breastmilk I like fresh from the source!
Touchdown for Weepigletstein
Herro everyone! My name is Sophie Chew Jia Xuan. I was born on 3 April 2007 at Thomson Medical Centre. I took some time coming out, because Mommy was too tired to push me out. The doctor had to use forceps to 'pinch' me out. It didnt hurt, but it did leave an ugly mark on my nose. Thank god it went away after 2 days, or Daddy would be really really upset! When I was finally placed on Mommy's chest, Mommy teared a little and Daddy was in shock (because of the blood!). Mommy had asked Daddy to cut the umblical cord and Daddy was all thumbs when he did it. He later confessed that he almost wanted to faint!!! Poor Daddy...As the nurses wrapped me up in a towel and fussed over me, Daddy was still standing there in a daze. Mommy had to remind Daddy to quickly snap pictures of me. When the nurses took my weight and height measurement, I put up a jolly good fight! Eventually i managed to settle down for them to get my weight at 2.655kg and height at 48cm. Daddy was mighty pleased with my 'fighting spirit'!!That's the long and short of my birth... I will let my Mommy bore you with details of what she went through before through to the birth. Later everyone!
