Beware of barracuda baby!

It was a very distressing time for Mommy after we were discharged from hospital. She wanted very badly to breastfeed me, but somehow, I always ended up "biting" her nipples till they were bloody and sore. Mommy had to bite her lips and bear with the pain everytime I latched on for my feeds. It got so bad that Mommy cried and said she could not take it anymore! She said I was a barracuda baby!!!Poor poor Mommy...

A week after I was born, we went back to Thomson Medical for my checkup with the pediatrician. Mommy told the PD her nursing problems and the PD ordered her to see a lactation consultant. Fortunately, the LC told Mommy that I was not biting (yeay! i could never bite my Mommy!) but there was a latching on problem. The LC patiently spent 20 mins teaching Mommy how to latch me on properly using the football and cradle position. Mommy was visibly relieved that she could still continue to breastfeed me with little or no pain!! Hooray! Now I can drink all the breastmilk I like fresh from the source!
